RULES

Over the centuries artists, architects and designers have honed their understanding of aesthetics by experimenting and observing effects.

These observations have been distilled into workable guidelines and handed down the generations.  Today professional designers refer to these guidelines at the start of a project and apply them as part of the design decisions they make.  This allows them to feel confident that their new product will be both pleasing to the eye and have the desired impact.

These guidelines are the ‘Principles of Design‘.  They include rules on use of colour, texture, shape and form, and on combining different elements to create a balanced ‘whole’.  As part of this blog I will describe how you can apply these to the curation of your existing wardrobe – editing and adding to this in a targeted way – and to the assembly of outfits for special occasions or just for daily life.
