About You

Are you in a quandary about what you ‘should’ and ‘shouldn’t’ wear these days?  Are you unsure how to present yourself in a way that’s attractive, stylish, and appropriate?

What thought do you want to inspire when you walk into a room?

“Wow, she looks great for her age!”

Well that’s not bad.  But how much better is this?

“Wow, she looks great!”

 That’s what InnerMutton is for.

In my twenties I mentally ‘shelved’ all the lovely sophisticated clothes that I wanted to wear, but felt too young for.  Well, now it’s time to get those clothes out!

I am writing for women who are ambitious and want to make their mark with a wardrobe that is chic and bang on trend.  Women who want to be taken seriously and be appreciated for their experience and strength of character – not for their short skirts.

InnerMutton will walk beside you at the cutting-edge of fashion making sure you don’t put a carefully shod foot wrong, teaching you about the essential rules of design including colour, fabric and shape, and saving you time, money and stress.

About Me

Florence

My name is Julia Begbie.  I am a director of London’s top private design school.

I have spent many years applying the Principles of Design to living spaces.  I have also made a study of how people whose style I admire apply the same principles to presenting themselves.  The good news is, there are rules!  And knowing the rules takes some of the stress out of choosing clothes and accessories.

As I approach my sixth decade I have decided to write down the rules which create a classic style that references fashion, and which is appropriate for all of us – for me, for my daughter, and for my mum.

Who needs this?  We all go through metamorphoses in life and have to re-invent ourselves from time to time: for a new job, a new relationship, a new phase in our lives, or to adapt to changes in our body shape.  So I think we all need this!

Inner Mutton curates the high street, and advocates a style built around a core wardrobe of reasonably-priced long-term pieces.  A wardrobe that with subtle tweaks never goes out of fashion, that fills you with confidence, and that makes you stand out from the crowd – in a good way!

PS I’d love to hear from you if you have a particular wardrobe challenge you would like considered as part of a future blog post?
